Sworn In as the 10th Archivist of the United States

The National Archives official history page is the primary for the title. “David S. Ferriero served as the 10th Archivist of the United States, from November 13, 2009, to April 30, 2022.” Nomination: July 28, 2009, by President Barack Obama. Senate confirmation: November 6, 2009. Oath: November 13, 2009.

The same day as confirmation, NARA issued press release 2010-75. It lists the prior jobs: 31 years at MIT libraries, associate director for public services and acting co-director; University Librarian and Vice Provost for Library Affairs at Duke, 1996–2004; Andrew W. Mellon Director of the New York Public Libraries from 2004. Navy hospital corpsman, Vietnam War, as the history page later states.

Those are titles. They are not a smear. They are why this domain file is about the federal archivist and not the insurance executive who shares the name.
